Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) Spinal Cord Injury Program
The Spinal Cord Program at TNC is a comprehensive program designed to manage the complexities of spinal cord injury physically and psychologically. The program is supervised by two on-site Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians, two on-site Neurologists and an on-site Pulmonologist. Individualized medical and therapy treatment plans, neurology management and frequent reassessment assure aggressive treatment and positive outcomes. Services are offered on an inpatient basis.
Diagnoses Treated
Spinal Cord Injury
Late onset complication of past spinal cord injury
Spinal cord injury patients who require a ventilator and weaning
Additional diagnoses include: infectious myelitis, spinal cord tumors, infarcts, transverse myelitis, myelopathies due to spinal stenosis
Comprehensive Services
Daily physician-directed program with “hands on” evaluation and patient care (24-hour nursing and direct care staffing)
Spinal Cord Care Interdisciplinary Team includes: physical medicine and rehab physicians, neurologists, board-certified pulmonologist, board-certified wound care physician, psychiatrist, neuropsychologist, chaplain, social worker, case manager, therapists, dietitians and registered nurses
Collaboration with referring professional by on-site physician team
Case management and social work services, including patient and family counseling and support groups
Private rooms
Participation in intensive rehabilitation therapy program, including: physical, occupational and speech therapies
Increased mobility with assistance of physical therapy staff and treatment team
24/7 respiratory therapy and advanced ventilator and tracheostomy treatments
Radiology on site
Evaluation of environmental factors that may affect spinal cord injury
Treatment of chronic and long-term neurological effects
Bowel and bladder programming
Spasticity management (including nerve blocks and Baclofen® pumps)
In addition, TNC patients and families can attend our Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Educational Series. A different topic is presented, each day by a professional with experience in the management of SCI.
